Sample assignments on routes in Maryland include:
MD 2 at MD 214: Whitetopping in Edgewater, Anne Arundel County, Maryland at the intersection of West Central Avenue (MD 214) and Solomons Island Road (MD 2). The work completed included resurfacing and restriping the northern (southbound) leg of Solomons Island Road.
MD 2 at MD 4: Traffic barrier study in the community of Sunderland in Calvert County, Maryland near the intersection of Solomons Island Road North (MD 2) and Southern Maryland Boulevard (MD 4). The project included the inspecting the guardrails near the intersection of MD 2 and MD 4, as well as checked the locations and numbers for power poles along the roadway.
MD 262 at Chew Creek: Redesign of the traffic barrier for bridge in Sunderland, Calvert County, Maryland, along Lower Marlboro Road (MD 262) at the bridge overtop Chew Creek. The redesign of the traffic barrier for the bridge, particularly focused on the barrier end treatment to better warn oncoming traffic of the barrier.
MD 4 at Wildewood Parkway: Stormwater management in the community of California, located in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, near the intersection of St. Andrews Church Road (MD 4) and Wildewood Parkway. Project details included providing preliminary computations and narrative for the stormwater management of the road widening of MD 4. Explored various stormwater management practices and placement for the project.
MD 231 at Skipjack Road: Road and stormwater management in the community of Prince Frederick located in Calvert County, Maryland, near the intersection of Hallowing Point Road (MD 231) and Skipjack Road. The work included the preliminary design of the road, stormwater management, storm drain and grading for the widening of MD 231 to add auxiliary lanes. Additional work included the exploration of several road layouts to minimize impacts to both residential and environmental features, which included extensive research and interpretation of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Highway Design Manual and the MDOT SHA Book of Standards.
MD 242 at MD 234: Stormwater management in the community of Clements, located in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, intersection of Budds Creek Road (MD 234) and Colton Point Road (MD 242). The project included tasks such as the preliminary and final design of stormwater management and storm drain layout for a proposed roundabout. Other work included the completion of the stormwater management, structure and pipe layout for the project including all necessary computations such as flow tabulations, ESD computations and a point of impact (POI) analysis.
DFI also provided surveying services including, but not limited to: requests for a professional land surveyor, multiple person survey crews (two minimum through four person crews), survey technicians and computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) persons as required and, or, requested for services outlined below including: preliminary survey, stakeout and topographic surveys; preparation of boundary worksheets and exhibits; boundary surveys - plats and metes and bounds descriptions; centerline and easement stakeout; topographic surveys, including worksheets; construction stakeout - baseline of construction stakeout for capital projects, stakeout of drainage systems, and water and sewer lines; stakeout for storm drains and limit of disturbance (cut and fill slopes); stakeout for sub-grades and final stakeout for paving; establishing horizontal and vertical control at future project sites; preparation of property acquisition plats and exhibits. Final plats and exhibits provided on mylar originals, signed and sealed by DFI’s professional land surveyor.
