Development Facilitators, Inc. (DFI) provided construction management and inspection (CM&I) services for the Calvert Regional Park project, located in Cecil County, Maryland. DFI provided CM&I services for the coordination and installation of turf fields, bio-retention and gravel wetlands.
DFI provided management for the paved areas, which are used to access different locations in the park, as well as value engineering (VE) recommendations, which prevented $238,000 in possible change orders.
The project was broken down into three phases, with the first phase including the construction of one synthetic multi-purpose turf field, three natural grass multi-purpose fields, basketball court area, and parking lot with bus drop off and pick up areas. A paved pedestrian walking trail winds throughout the park.
The purpose for this regional park is to enhance a healthy and active lifestyle in the surrounding area. Various athletic grounds will encourage outdoor exercise while also increasing revenue through sporting events. With the implementation of the soccer, lacrosse and football fields, the county can expect to make revenue through athletic tournaments, which last several days. This the first Regional Park in the county.
