The previous Riviera Beach Library, which served the community since 1971, was demolished for a new, updated structure that includes reflections of local beauty, history and state-of-the-art technology.
DFI provided Construction Management and Inspection (CM&I) through the project team for this project, which is located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Special coordination efforts were required to assist with the temporary relocation of the existing facility. After the completion of the facility relocation, efforts began for hazardous material abatement, proper disposal and the demolition of the existing 10,500-square-foot facility while maximizing recycling efforts of materials.
Once completed, the construction of the new facility on the same four (4)-acre site began. The construction consisted of a state-of-the-art 20,000-square-foot, one (1)-story building, parking, Storm Water Management (SWM) practices, utilities including public water, sanitary sewer, and gas services, Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) access, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)® Silver-certified, high-level five (5) finishes and structural steel and block construction. Special attention was given to Erosion and Sediment Control (E&SC) due to runoff from the site feeding directly into nearby waterways.
DFI utilized Procore, a cloud-based project management platform, to provide real time access to stakeholders and transparency of services. DFI provided Drone services to document aerial photography during key phases of construction. Additional Drone services, included thermal imaging and handheld thermal imaging technology. Additionally, the Team delivered innovative site connectivity via Time Lapse Camera imagery.
