Project description

The Jennifer Road Detention Center included numerous renovations and rehabilitation to the facility that required extensive coordination with the facility and staff, as well as attention to detail to ensure that the previously existing systems were functional during the project.

DFI provided Construction Inspection services for this detention center project. The fire alarm replacement system project included the replacement of existing fire alarm systems with a new system, according to plans and specifications. The existing systems remained in operation until the new system was installed, tested and approved by Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The cell door operators project included removal of existing cell doors and replacement of 14 cell door devices, with front release columns, mechanical release and paracentric key switches, repainting of existing grille doors and four (4) new corridor door operators. The inmate shower renovations project was a three (3)-phase project which included selective demolition, surface preparation and installation of new custom stainless steel shower pans, wall and ceiling panels. The project was expanded to include the replacement of plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, in-line exhaust fans, exhaust grills and miscellaneous accessories in selected shower areas of the existing building as indicated on the construction documents.
