The new Galesville Fire Station building, which is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)® Silver-certified, replaced the oldest station in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
DFI provided Construction Management and Inspection (CM&I) services during the preconstruction, construction and warranty periods of the fire station facility project. This project included facility work, including three (3) drive-thru bays, lockers, gear room, kitchen, communication room, sleeping quarters, engine bays and related spaces, which required specialized inspection and coordination with trade inspectors to include Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP), roofing, fire sprinkler, masonry, concrete and pre-fabricated steel structures. The site improvements included the parking/driveway entrance, Storm Water Management (SWM) such as pervious parking, infiltration and rain gardens, inspection/coordination services were needed for the fire-suppression tank, landscaping, power and communication connections and permanent stabilization of all disturbed areas. The team provided coordination/cooperation with the Contractor concerning furniture installation and telecommunications upon approval, assurance of Contractor's cleanliness of the project site area, during and immediately after construction, and monitored Contractor's staff construction activities at all times, maintained a positive public outreach program, monitored project construction through final acceptance including as-builts, coordinated final walk-through, coordination and completion of any punch list items, coordinated conditional and final acceptance, established warranty time frame for shower completion and at termination of the warranty time frame, coordinated with the County’s staff concerning project review following the completion of the warranty’s time frame.
